How to create contracts in the marketplace

The marketplace allows you to connect with other operators to resell each other's products, get real time access to each other's inventory and take bookings. You can act as both a supplier and/or a seller in the marketplace.

Using the marketplace is a win-win situation for both suppliers and resellers. Suppliers increase their product exposure, which can lead to an increase in sales. Resellers gain access to more supply, which may also lead to more sales.

If you are a supplier you will need to create a set of contract terms before sending your contract proposal to the reseller. We recommend setting your standard contract terms so that they will be visible to everyone in the marketplace. This will allow the resellers to send you a direct contract proposal with your standard contract terms.

If you are a reseller you can send a contract proposal to the supplier if they have set their standard contract terms for the marketplace. If they haven't you will need to request the supplier to send you their contract terms.

What are Marketplace contract terms?

Contract terms is the contract agreement between you and another company in the Bókun Marketplace. This agreement defines the reseller commission and the products you want to sell on the marketplace.

Do I need to create contract terms before I can make a contract in the marketplace?

If you’re a supplier, it is important to create contract terms before making a proposal on the marketplace.

How to create contract terms in the marketplace

  • Go to Contract Terms
  • Select Create contract terms
  • Complete the below sections:
    • General settings - Set a title, choose a price catalog and set your invoice currency.
    • Set experience commission - Set commission you’d like to use. Use the advanced experience commission options to set different commission percentages for ticket categories.
    • Select experiences for your contract - Choose the experiences that should be included in this contract. You can either use all experiences or just a few selected ones.
  • Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Who can create contract terms?

Only suppliers can create contract terms. If you are a reseller and do not offer any products, you will not be able to create contract terms. Instead, resellers can go directly to the marketplace and request suppliers to send them their contract terms.

How many contract terms can I create?

You can create as many as you need. You can create default terms that you use for all your contracts, or you can create individual contract terms for each partner that you work with, where you can create special deals and set different commission for each one.

How to set standard contract terms in the marketplace

We recommend you to set standard contract terms that will be visible to everyone in the marketplace. This will allow the resellers to send you a direct contract proposal with your standard contract terms.

Here is how:

  • Select Contract terms in the marketplace navigation

  • Set your standard contract terms using the first drop-down menu.

The terms you select here will be visible to all marketplace resellers, and they will be able to send you a contract proposal based on this contract.

For Resellers: How to send a contract proposal or request contract terms from a supplier

As a seller you can send a direct contract proposal to the supplier if they have set their standard contract terms or request contract terms from the supplier.

Here is how:

  • Go to the Discover Partners page
  • Click on the business card
  • Click on Offer to resell their products
  • Fill in the General settings and Cancellation settings sections

  • Either select:
    • Request terms if the supplier has not set up their standard terms for the marketplace. If the supplier is interested, they will get back to you with a contract outlining the commission percentage and their product offering. After you have received the terms you can agree to the proposal from the supplier or send back a counterproposal.
    • Propose with standard contract terms this option is visible only if the supplier has set their standard contract terms. In this case the main contract the supplier has been set will be used. You’ll be able to see the standard terms already applied to the example shown. If you do not wish to go ahead with the standard terms, you can always request different terms.

For Suppliers: How to send a contract proposal to a reseller

As a supplier, you provide the seller with your contract terms when inviting them to become your reseller. Before you can send a Marketplace contract, you need to make sure you have your Contract terms in place.

Follow the steps below to send a contract proposal to a reseller:

  • Go to the Discover Partners page
  • Click on the business card
  • Click Offer my products
  • Complete the below marketplace contract sections:
    • General settings: specify the contract and when the customer contact would be shared with you. If you do not have existing contract terms, you must create them first. We recommend you don't use the OTA contract terms (Viator, Expedia, etc.) for regular Marketplace contracts.
    • Cancellation settings: Who can cancel or edit the booking.
    • Contract summary: You can check the number of products offered and the commission on the contract.

Using the preview section, you can check product pricing and commission before sending a contract if you select a product via the dropdown menu.

  • Select Send proposal

Alternatively, you can start a conversation with the supplier by clicking on the Send a message tab on their profile.

Payments and invoices in the Marketplace

Resellers are responsible for accepting payments on behalf of suppliers for any products resold from the Bókun Marketplace. Suppliers then must invoice their resellers directly. If you have resellers, you can use the Marketplace invoice report to see who you need to invoice.

Please note that the reseller invoices are created outside Bókun and funds are transferred outside Bókun.

Responding to contract proposals

Once you have sent a contract proposal, the other party will receive a notification via email, and they will be encouraged to respond to your proposal.

They can respond to the proposal in three ways:

  • Contract proposal is accepted and is immediately active.
  • Contract proposal is amended and needs to be reviewed by you.
  • Contract proposal is declined

When both parties have accepted the agreement, you will have access to the other party's products.

Other Sales Channels (OTA Integrations)

It is important to make a distinction between the conventional Marketplace contracts and the integrations to online travel agencies (OTA) sellers Bókun offers. If you would like to connect your Bókun account to the following sellers, you would not use the marketplace. Click each seller's name below to find further information on how to integrate with them.
